How to Play AutoZone Liberty Bowl Pick ‘Em Live
College Bowl Season is upon us and this year the AutoZone Liberty Bowl will engage viewers in a way that no other bowl game has. By incorporating Your Call, Inc’s patented live prediction technology, viewers will be able to predict every play right before it happens and score points based on their accuracy. Those who participate will become eligible for cash prizes just by participating!
Now that you’ve downloaded the app and marked your calendar for December 31st at 2:45pm CST, let’s break down how to play AutoZone Liberty Bowl Pick ‘Em Live during this year’s game.
How to Watch
This game is best enjoyed as a two-screen experience – watching on your television and playing along on your phone. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN with kickoff at 2:45pm CST on New Year’s Eve.
At kick off, open the app and enter the game. You will be prompted to select your provider (cable or satellite) to sync your app experience with the live TV broadcast. This ensures that you will be predicting for the correct play during the live action.
How it Works
You will be able to predict the play type, design and outcome on every play — excluding kickoffs and extra points — during the live game. The prediction process on any given play involves 3 tiers. Here is how the prediction — and tiering process — works.
Tier 1 – Play Type
Prior to every offensive play, 4 voting options will appear on your phone: run, pass, field goal and punt. Based on what you see on the field and your knowledge of the team, you will make a prediction for what type of play you think will be run on the field.
It’s 2nd down and 2. Will it be a pass to grab a big chunk of yardage? Or a run attempt to pick up a quick first down? Getting tier 1 correct is essential to scoring points on any given play.
Don’t take 4th down scenarios for granted either! This is your opportunity to pick up some easy points. Depending on where the offense is on the field, you can probably tell if the offense is going to opt for a field goal attempt or a punt. These predictions could prove crucial on the leaderboard by the end of the game! Cash in on the easy points or risk falling behind the pack on 4th down.
Tier 2 – Play Design
Once you pick the play type, a new set of predictions will appear on your screen. The next step is predicting the design of the play.
If you predicted a run play, your 2nd tier options will be a run up the middle or a run to the outside.
*A run up the middle is defined as a play that intends for the running back to run between the two offensive tackles. A run outside of the tackles, will be scored as an outside run.
If you predicted a pass play, your 2nd tier options will be a pass shorter than 10 yards or a pass longer than 10 yards.
*The length of the pass is defined by how far it travels in the air from the line of scrimmage. It does not take into account run after-the-catch yardage.
Tier 2 is only factored into your score when you’ve correctly predicted in Tier 1 for that play. Tack on some extra points to your score by correctly anticipating the design of the play. The real opportunity, however, to score some big points and stretch the gap between you and the competition comes in Tier 3.
Tier 3 – Play Outcome
The final step to scoring big points is predicting the actual outcome of the play. Just like the scoring reward for a correct play design prediction, the reward for this tier only comes into play if you’ve correctly predicted in Tier 1. The reward for correctly predicting the play outcome, however, is much greater than in tier 2.
If you selected run, the outcome choices include: yards gained, yards lost, 1st down, touchdown or defensive outcome (sack, fumble).
If you selected pass, the outcome choices include: yards gained, no gain/loss of yards, pass incomplete, 1st down, touchdown or defensive outcome (sack, fumble interception).
This is where you take your biggest chance and either choose to play the percentages and pick an outcome like yards gained or incomplete, or try to jump ahead of your competitors by choosing an unlikely outcome (like a 40-yard touchdown or a defensive outcome such as an interception!)
TIER 1 – PLAY TYPE PICK: 2 Points
TIER 2 – PLAY DESIGN PICK: 1 Point
TIER 3 – PLAY OUTCOME PICK:
First Down: 3 Points
Touchdown: 6 Points
Gain: 1 Point
Loss: 2 Points
Incomplete: 2 Points
Defensive outcome: 4 Points
Made Field Goal: 3 Points
Missed Field Goal: 3 Points
Return Punt: 3 Points
No Return Punt: 3 Points
Block/Fumble Punt: 6 Points
