The Future of the Fan Experience is Here
There has never been a more exciting time to be a sports fan with what is, quite frankly, an arms race for fans’ attention. Leagues, teams and really anyone involved in sports, are constantly looking for ways to better connect with fans. While there’s a plethora of technology designed to enhance the overall fan experience, less abundant is technology designed to sustain their interest and engage them for longer periods of time.
This is where Your Call, Inc., is carving out a unique opportunity. My passion has always been identifying and building the next innovative technology to enhance the consumer experience — whether that was related to sports or any other type of entertainment. As the president of Your Call, Inc., a Massachusetts-based startup, we’re delivering on just that. We’ve patented a way for fans to get involved in, and even influence, the action of a live sporting event – not just watch from the stands or their couches (or merely participate virtually).
Our first product, Your Call Football, allows fans to influence the results of real, live football games by voting for the plays that are actually run on the field. Here’s how it works:
- Fans vote on bundles of three plays selected by one of YCF’s coaches
- The play with the most votes is relayed back to the sidelines, then executed on the field by YCF’s professional players
- Fans earn points based on their play-calling skills and compete against each other in leagues and head-to-head competitions
Our first two series, during which our teams were led by former Green Bay head coach Mike Sherman and former NFL teammates Merril Hoge and Solomon Wilcots, validated two critical elements: the viability of the technology and the interest of fans. Nearly 600,000 plays were called without a single interruption and our live stream was delivered with near-zero latency. The successful implementation and compelling product drew overwhelmingly positive reactions from both fans and commentators. As ESPN The Magazine wrote: “… it’s a patented technology that all professional sports leagues should be falling over themselves to license.”

This, really, is just the beginning. We hold five patents that allow us to create the ultimate fan engagement platform, one that transforms live events into interactive, social and competitive experiences. We’re not talking about apps that tell you where the concessions are or where to park at a stadium. We’re talking about an app that connects fans – live at an event or remote from anywhere – and allows them to impact the outcome, compete with each other in real-time and win prizes.
Just imagine: getting a seat at the World Series of Poker from the other side of the country. Caddying for Jordan Spieth from your man cave. Or calling for Pat Mahomes to hit Odell Beckham Jr. on a fly pattern in the Pro Bowl.
Thinking back to when I first told my husband about the idea for Your Call Football, he immediately said, ‘there’s no way that can be done.’ Thrilled to say he was wrong and this is just the beginning.
